Background & Education
Imam Yahya Mohammad Al-Hussein completed his primary, intermediate, and secondary education in Sudan (1958–1971).
He went on to study at the Institute of Technological Colleges in Khartoum (1971–1972), followed by the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Khartoum (1973–1980).
During his university years, he memorised the Qur’an and attained the distinction of Ḥāfiẓ al-Qur’an. He also completed a number of specialised courses in various Sharīʿah disciplines.
Professional Experience
Since 1983, he has served as Imam and President of the Islamic Foundation of Ireland.
He also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Irish Council of Imams and is a patron of two state-funded Muslim primary schools in Dublin.
Educational Contributions
Imam Yahya Mohammad Al-Hussein designed and developed the Islamic Studies syllabus for the two Muslim primary schools in Dublin.
He has authored eight textbooks currently in use within these schools and has published numerous booklets and leaflets on Islamic topics in English. He has also translated a number of works from Arabic into English.
